This Summer I have been darting between Donizetti and Mozart. Norina and Papagena.
Norina, you were v fun đď¸ I think the more I sing Donizetti, the more I just adore bel canto and these cheeky characters. It was a real pleasure to work at @longhopeopera again this year. Thank you for having me back đđź
Donny P - unapologetically outrageous and colourful in a world of theatre creatures, babies and penguins. Itâs been wild. I really loved this weekend and as always, extremely grateful to be on stage doing this job. đĽ°
Not quite sure where that month went but it was spent with a brilliant cast of lovely humans, active wear and Portuguese treats ... See you in November, Norina đ
Then Papagena! đĽ this is my first time touring a production and it has been so wonderful. Iâve really enjoyed working in different spaces; halls, gardens, marquees etc. AND being able to see beautiful new places. I've been sharing the role with the lovely Ellie Sanderson-Nash over the last four months and it has been so nice to work with a fellow RNCMer! She is a fabulous singer and we weren't studying at the same time but I'm so glad we had this opportunity to work together and finally cross paths! It happens so often in this industry where we hear about singers but often if you are the same voice type, you aren't booked for the same gig. This contract has been so lovely for that though because there are quite a lot of double casting to cover all the dates. It is a long tour to book and an amazing cast throughout - it is astonishing that Wild Arts has been able to schedule so many dates with so many artists. Impressive !!
We have a little break from shows and then heading to Berlin where Iâll be taking a break from Papagena and putting my First Lady hat on đđť It will also be my first ever trip to Germany! The shows are just outside of Berlin in a beautiful orangery in Potsdam.
During this production we had the absolute pleasure of working with Ben Thapa. He very sadly passed away this week. This man has been the most friendly, caring and welcoming colleague. I feel so honoured to have met Ben Thapa. Thank you for the beer chats, Percy pigs and being my train pal. You will be missed, mate. Our next show is for you. <3
