Online Teaching

March 17, 2020

Hello everyone,

It is heartbreaking to see so many people lose work this week. Very sad to say my 2020 performances won't be going ahead due to COVID-19. Being home and staying safe now is the main thing and we want everyone to be healthy. If you have bought tickets to a show that has been cancelled, please consider donating your ticket money to the company or society as a compassionate act. The arts are really in need at the moment. We need entertainment and arts.

This week, I will be continuing private singing lessons and offering online video sessions via Zoom. It is incredible that technology has allowed us to keep this one stand of income. If you're taking music lessons, keep going! You're really helping artists who have lost performance work. It's also going to bring a lot of joy during this time <3 Thank you to my current students who have been so understanding and willing to try this with me. If there is anyone out there who would like to take on some singing lessons while they are stuck at home, please click here for more details.

Love & blessings, Daniella xx

2020 Announcements

February 28, 2020

I am delighted to be sharing my upcoming opera engagements with you for 2020. Starting off in May, I'll be back at Clonter Opera for their Spring Showcase & Public Masterclass. I'm thrilled to be working with them again this year and really looking forward to bringing some new repertoire to the table.

This Summer I will be returning to the Buxton International Festival to perform the role of Anne Egerman in Sondheim's A Little Night Music. This will be in July and the production will be in collaboration with the Buxton Opera House. I will then be heading down south to work with Waterperry Opera Festival for the first time! There I will be performing the role of Giannetta in their production of The Elixir of Love by Donizetti.

Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd...

August 08, 2019

Hi everyone, Hope you have had a wonderful Summer so far. I have just spent five precious days in Perth, Australia to celebrate some family special occasions. Even though it was short, it was very nice to spend time at home and see my friends and family. Feeling rejuvenated and fresh :) The little holiday is over now and it’s back into learning music! 🎶 Really looking forward to announce that I will be going to Norway this year with Bergen Nasjonalew Opera for their performances of Sweeney Todd. Absolutely LOVE this music and am absolutely thrilled to be singing with Edvard Grieg Kor and some of my RNCM friends. This is my first ever professional engagement in Norway and I cannot wait!

"I got my basket back!"

July 20, 2019

To the village of Buxton we have come, and gone! These last two weeks have been wonderful at Buxton International Festival. Thank you for having me! I feel very blessed to have worked with such a supportive and talented team for #BIFKoombu and also performing in the Carnival of the Animals concert with Northern Chamber Orchestr. Congratulations to all the performers, amazing choruses of young people, creative teams, back stage crew and behind the scenes folk who made the festival happen. Big shout out to Mark Burns, Tom Newall & Lucie DeLacey for all their amazing work journeying with the young people, getting them inspired and pumped to do their first ever opera!

To the village of Koombu we must go...

April 02, 2019

The score has arrived and I’m so looking forward to working on this opera. I’ll be performing the lead role of ‘Sticks’ in the Buxton International Festivalproduction of The Orphans of Koombu. We meet our amazing children’s chorus soon and they have already been working so hard this month with Tom Newall Conductor to learn all about opera and their music. I’m also very excited to be sharing this adventure with Fiona Finsbury & Edward Robinson as we find out the secrets of Koombu 💧

Preview performances will be in May at each of the schools involved. The Opera will be running at the Buxton International Festival from 12th-20th July at 10:30am. Tickets available on the BIF website.

March Recitals

March 31, 2019

March was a very special month of recitals for me. It all started with a return to Kirby Lonsdale for Concert & Cakes with Radu Prisada 🍰  Radu stepped in only eleven days before the concert and was such a delight to work with. Thank you very much for your hard work and enthusiasm. I look forward to working with you again soon!

That same weekend, I had the pleasure of singing at the Artful Voices Fundraiser. The choirs and dancers were brilliant and it was such a joyful evening. Thank you for inviting me to sing!

The month then finished with an exciting concert with Salford Keys at the Didsbury Coffee Concerts. We explored some new music written for Soprano, Flute and Clarinet. To top it off, my cousin came to visit from Australia and was able to be there. Very special to have family in the audience!

Radu and I will be performing our Concert&Cakes program at the June Didsbury Coffee Concerts. More details will be on my Upcoming Events section.

Merry Christmas!

December 23, 2018

The past few months have been filled with many rewarding and fun performances. This November I was lucky enough to return to Clonter Opera, this time working on their touring Opera Gala and 'Songs from the Shows' concerts. We explored opera, operetta and musical theatre repertoire.

December included my debut performance of Handel's Messiah! First performing with Woodbridge Choral Society and then with the Ilkley & Otley Choral society. I truly enjoyed these concerts and am looking forward to performing this music again soon.

I'm now back in Australia soaking up some sun and family time. Wishing everybody a blessed Christmas and heres to an excellent year ahead!

Robin Kay Memorial Prize

December 07, 2018

Robin Kay Memorial Prize 💕🌟 Very honoured and grateful to be the 2018 recipient of this award and big congratulations to Samantha Clarke- who won the prize in 2017. This week we were presented the award and some absolutely stunning decanters. It was very special to be able to share this moment with both Sam and Mary Plazas, whom we both studied with during our time at RNCM. Feels like only yesterday that we were moving to Manchester! A wonderful journey it has been so far and a joy to share it with these women.

Summer is over... yet again!

September 22, 2018

Summer ends, brollies become a 'just in case' and term starts... but not for me! The last three years at RNCM have been such an adventure but now my studies have come to an end. As well as graduating this year, I'm delighted to announce I've received the Robin Kay Memorial Prize! More info soon...

There was a lot of travelling this Summer. I went down to Brighton and then all the way up to Norway! Then after a jam packed stint at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, I set off to Clonter Theatre. I've now returned from a month of Children's workshops. What a great month it was! With the leadership and inspiration from our fabulous Stage Director and Music Director we devised a workshop, show and opera gala. Two workshops and a show per day for the kids and an evening gala on the weekend for Friends of Clonter. I look forward to working with Clonter again this November. All details for these performances are on the home page

A Year of Fairytales

October 17, 2017

This month, three years ago, we were performing Hansel & Gretel at WAAPA, Australia. Bonnie and I had an amazing set of Sandman/Dewfairy costumes. That opera taught me a lot about the stage and I had the privilege of working with some wonderful directors, crew and cast members.

Next term, Hansel & Gretel will be performed at RNCM and I am very excited to say that I will be playing the role of Gretel!

Summer is Over

August 18, 2017

I've been travelling around Europe! What an eye opening month :) We live in a beautiful world.

As I settle back into Manchester this weekend, I look back at the many wonderful memories that were had in my final year of Masters. Yesterday marked two years since moving to this city. A little extra news for the new term... I'm so happy to share that I've been awarded the John Cameron Prize for Lieder at RNCM!

It has been an amazing journey so far but don't know whereeeee the time has gone! I feel really blessed to have shared it with fellow WAAPA ladies, Samantha Clarke & Chelsea Burns. It has been so amazing to see them do so well. Very grateful for this place and the people I've met here.

Once upon a time...

This Christmas, RNCM will be putting on a magical production of Cendrillon by Massenet. I will be performing the role of The Fairy Godmother (La Fée) on the 6th, 10th & 14th of December. A Change of Scene

May 01, 2016

This term at RNCM I will be performing in two Opera Scenes. The first is La Serva Padrona (Serpina) by Pergolesi which will be on the 1st of June. I am so thrilled to be doing this scene as we are doing the whole first act of the intermezzo and also I get the chance to share the stage with my colleague and very good friend, James Berry (baritone). The second scene will be performed on the 10th of June and I am playing the role of the 2nd Niece in Britten's Peter Grimes. Again, very excited to be working with some fabulous friends on stage!

These events are free and will be held in the RNCM Opera Theatre at 6:ooPM. Please come along to watch!! :)

New Project: Dani Sicari & The Easy Rollers

February 17, 2016

Last term I met a Jazz Piano Masters student at our PostGrad RNCM Dinner. His name is Alex Hill and he is a musical powerhouse. We started jamming, playing a few jazz tunes, performed for the RNCM Christmas Tree launch just for fun and it has now slowly evolved into a Jazz group!

This week, Alex launched the first Brodsky Jam event. It was a great night and we decided to get up and play a tune. Dani Sicari & The Easy Rollers will be headlining the next Jam on the 25th of April. After the first set, anyone is welcome to get up and jam along.

Last week we recorded a few songs with the quartet (Coming Soon) and our wonderful horn section will be joining us in the next few weeks to start preparing for the Jam. Cannot wait!

My First Blog for The O Word

The O Word is a blog for aspiring Opera students in Australia. They post articles weekly either by their in house writers or musical guests. Recently they have been hearing from Aussie singers that set abroad to study. I was approached by Kate & Lewis from the team about writing for this Vocal Voyage series. Thank you for asking me to share my story! I had a great time working on this.

Sono Despina!

December 29, 2015

I am thrilled to announce that this Spring I will be playing the role of Despina. The Royal Northern College of Music will be doing Cosi Fan Tutte this term directed by Thomas Guthrie. This is such an amazing opportunity and I am so excited to start working on the role.

Tickets are available online through the RNCM website. I will be performing on the 11th, 15th and 19th of March. Have a great holiday break!
